DAVID HOLMES

David Holmes recently appeared on the SBCC Garvin Theatre stage as Carlton Fitzgerald in Moss Hart’s Light Up the Sky and in 2012 as Charlie Aiken in Tracy Letts’ August: Osage County. David has acted and directed in the Santa Barbara Community since his arrival in 1980. He has directed 33 plays, 32 musicals, 29 talent shows and has mentored around 185 one-act plays. Until his retirement from teaching theatre at San Marcos High School in 2014, he served the Santa Barbara Unified School District as a member of the executive board of the Santa Barbara Education Foundation and was on the executive board of the Santa Barbara Teachers Association. A lifelong advocate for the arts in public education, David continues to support and encourage a comprehensive arts curriculum for Kindergarten to grade 12. There are few things more important to the development of our youth today than exposure to and involvement in the Arts. He is a member of the Granada Theatre Community Engagement Committee representing the interests of the local high schools in partnership with the Granada organization. David is a graduate of UCSB in Dramatic Arts, earned his secondary teaching credential in 1984 and holds a lifetime credential to teach theatre at any 2 year college. He proudly wears the title of Ex-Sublime Noble Grand Humbug of the Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus Inc. and thanks his brothers in the DLGyP Chapter 1.5 E C.V.for their support. David is proud to be a part of On the Verge and wishes everyone involved continued success for the future.
